Why we call it Srota

Srota is a Nepali word that means source, or origin. It's the point where something begins to flow. We chose it because that's what we wanted this platform to be: the source your business works from. One place your bookings, your bills, your stock, and your staff all flow through, instead of being scattered across a notebook, a calculator, and a WhatsApp group.

"The source of solutions" is our way of saying that whatever problem your business runs into day to day, from a missing stock count to a bill that has to be correct the first time, there should be one place you can go to fix it.

Why we built this

Most software built for businesses in Nepal is either made for a different country and adapted afterward, or built once and left alone. Neither approach fits how a restaurant or a shop here actually runs. Bills need to be in Bikram Sambat. VAT rules follow the Electronic Billing Procedure. A khata is a real payment method, not an edge case. We built Srota around these details from day one instead of bolting them on later.

Digital Nepal is a goal a lot of people talk about. To us, it doesn't start with big infrastructure, it starts with small businesses being able to run without paper. A restaurant that can trust its bills. A shop that always knows what's in stock. That's the part we're trying to build.

Why a business needs this

A notebook works until it doesn't. A missing page, a handwriting nobody can read at month end, a stock count that turns out to be wrong when a customer asks for something you thought you had. These aren't rare problems, they're the daily cost of running a business without proper tools. Srota exists to remove that cost, not by making things more complicated, but by making the correct way the easy way.

How we work on it

Our team ships small improvements constantly rather than waiting for a big yearly release. Every question a business owner asks us, every bug a waiter or a store keeper runs into on a real shift, feeds directly back into what we build next. Srota RMS and Srota IMS are both still growing, and we intend to keep them that way.
